Get help and report a bug
Where to ask, how to send a report from the app’s Feedback window, and what to put in it so the problem gets fixed fast.
Stuck, found a bug or have an idea? This page shows where to ask, how to send a report from inside StykAnimate, and what to put in it so the problem gets fixed quickly.
- Quick question? Ask on Discord, where other animators hang out. Many problems are already in Troubleshooting.
- Found a bug? Help → Send feedback / Report a bug… in the desktop app, or the feedback page on the website.
- The best reports have steps to reproduce, what you expected, and a screenshot or .styk file. Replies come back to you under My reports.
Where to go
“How do I…?” questions, feedback on your animation, sharing what you made.

Feedback pageSend a report from the app
- Choose Help → Send feedback / Report a bug…. (Or open Settings, click Feedback on the left and pick Report a bug, Share an idea or Other feedback.) The Feedback window opens on New report.
- Step 1 Report: pick the Report type (Bug report, Performance, Idea or suggestion, Other feedback), write a Title of at least 5 characters and a Description of at least 10. Click Continue.
- Step 2 Details: for a bug or a performance problem, fill in Steps to reproduce and Expected result. Under Additional details (optional) you can add your name, how often it happens, and what happened instead.
- Click Add images, videos or projects to attach screenshots, screen recordings or your .styk file: up to 6 files and 24 MB. Pictures and videos are made smaller on your computer before they’re sent.
- Click Send report. The window says Report sent. Replies will appear here. and opens your report. Later replies show up under My reports.
Try it: write a report
This is the app’s Feedback window. Fill it in for a made-up bug, like “Flip turns the wrong figure”. Nothing is sent: it’s practice.

Other devices
- Write a title of five letters or more, and a description.
- Click Continue to step 2, Details.
- Write two steps in Steps to reproduce, one per line.
- Add a file with Add images, videos or projects.
- Click Send report and find it under My reports.
Files you pick here stay in this page; nothing is uploaded.
What makes a report easy to fix
“Flip is broken.”
“With two figures selected, Shift+H flips only the first one. 1. Add a second figure. 2. Select both. 3. Press Shift+H. Expected: both flip. Every time. My .styk is attached.”
- A title that says what broke, not just where: “Shift+H flips only one of two selected figures”.
- Steps someone else can follow, from opening the app. Name the exact control and key: “Ctrl-drag the right hand” is clearer than “stretch the arm”.
- What you expected, and what happened instead.
- Your .styk file, if it happens in one project. If the project is private, make a small copy that still shows the problem.
- For slowness, choose the Performance type and paste Help → Performance → Copy report into the description.
Before you write, try to make the problem happen a second time from a new project. If you can, your steps are right. If it only happens in one file, attach that file.
Replies and privacy
Only you and the developer can read your reports. No account is needed. Reports are deleted after 90 days, attached files after 30. Only the text you write and the files you pick are sent; take anything private out of screenshots first.
- Replies appear in the Feedback window under My reports. You can answer there, like a chat.
- To read your reports on another computer, use Other devices → Copy access link and keep the link somewhere safe: anyone with it can read those reports.
- Using StykAnimate in the browser? Report from the feedback page on the website: it works the same way.
Privacy and diagnostics
On first launch, the desktop app asks whether to share optional usage and performance data: Accept, Reject, or Choose separately & see details to pick Product analytics and Performance & error diagnostics one by one. Both are optional; the editor works the same with them off. Your animations, file names and text stay out of these reports.
Change your mind any time in Help → Privacy & diagnostics (also at the bottom of the Settings list), where you can also:
- Preview queued data: see exactly what would be sent.
- Delete my data & turn off.
- Record 30-second trace: a performance recording, saved only on your computer, to attach to a report if the developer asks for one.
A random installation ID links these reports together; it isn’t your name or an account. Sending a bug report never turns on analytics. The browser version sends no usage data at all.
Support StykAnimate
StykAnimate is free. If you’d like to help keep it that way, Help → Support development (or Donate in Settings) opens its Ko-fi page. Sharing what you make, in the community library or on Discord, helps too.
Common questions
I can’t find Send feedback in the Help menu.
It is in the desktop app. In the browser, use the feedback page on the website.
Do I need an account?
No. Your reports are tied to your copy of the app (or your browser). Copy the access link if you want to read them somewhere else.
How long until I get an answer?
It depends, but replies always come back to My reports, so you don’t need to keep the window open.
